Eat & Drink

Just because your home-away-from-home features a full kitchen doesn't mean you want to cook every meal, right? Whether eating out a lot or just a little, you needn't travel far for some "ono kine grindz." (i.e. great food)

The numbers on the map above correspond to the numbered list below. Hover over any number to view an image, or click to launch the respective website.

1. Ted’s Bakery (5 minute walk): Don't let the name fool you. Ted's is far more than a simple bakery. Plate lunches, burgers, doughnuts and danishes, pies, coffee and espresso drinks. It's all good!

2. Turtle Bay Resort (5 minute drive): Four restaurants, a poolside/oceanfront bar and the indoor Surfer Bar are all available to non-guests. LeiLei's has arguably the best food but lacks ambiance, while upscale 21 Degrees North offers gourmet dining in a white tablecloth setting. For more casual dining in the ideal location, you can't beat the beachfront, open-air Ola. Leonardo's, the Resort's flagship, offers a mostly Italian menu along with a nightly buffet.

3. Pupukea Grill (5 minute drive): A lunch wagon featuring an eclectic menu, ranging from sushi to Mexican to shave ice. Good fresh fish.

4. Shark’s Cove Grill (5 minute drive): Another lunch wagon with great food. The fish skewers and teriyaki chicken sandwich (on a purple taro bun...yum!) are fantastic.

5. Kahuku Grill (10 minute drive): The place for a seriously great burger!

6. Farmer’s Markets (3 minute drive): Kahuku Land Farms is Oahu's largest roadside market operating daily. The North Shore Country Market operates Saturdays 8:00-2:00 at Sunset Beach Elementary School.

7. Shrimp Trucks (8 minute drive): Giovanni's is the original and remains king of the Kahuku shrimp trucks, but Romys and Fumis are both worthy competitors. Try all three and judge for yourself!

8. Kahuku Farms (8 minute drive): Using locally sourced ingredients - many of which are grown right onsite - this little farm cafe offers a unique island experience. Paninis, small pizzas, salads and a few sweets make up a small menu...less is more here! Open Friday - Monday, 11 am - 4 pm.

9. Waimea Valley Grill (6 minute drive): A simple menu with surprisingly tasty food.

10. Ono Yo (10 minute drive): We can't say enough about this yogurt joint. Our mouths water just thinking about it!

The town of Haleiwa (15 minute drive) offers several additional options, including our favorites Banzai Sushi, Opal Thai, Luibuenos, Dat Cajun Guy and Haleiwa Joes. The place is equipped with a house guide offering more detailed recommendations.
